«Deus ex machina»: к вопросу о связи между культами Асклепия и Гликона

Аннотация

В статье рассматривается культ Гликона, возникший во II в. н. э. в Малой Азии. Автор анализирует устоявшийся в научной литературе тезис о том, что Гликон по характеру иконографии и культовой практики был новым воплощением бога-врачевателя Асклепия. Цель исследования – выявить подлинные истоки и специфику данного религиозного феномена. На основе сопоставительного анализа литературных данных с археологическими и нумизматическими материалами делается следующий вывод: лечебные практики, связанные с почитанием Гликона, а также его иконография, не только не находят параллелей в культе Асклепия, но часто ему прямо противоречат. Доказывается, что ключевые элементы имеют более явные аналоги в восточных, сиро-фригийских верованиях. Таким образом, синкретизм Гликона проявлялся в том, что образ, имя и символика Асклепия служили инструментом легитимации местных малоазийских верований и магических практик. Это было сделано для увеличения популярности божества как среди местного населения, так и среди эллинизированной элиты, почитавшей общегреческого богацелителя. Таким образом, в статье подвергается сомнению единообразный подход «Гликон – новый Асклепий» и демонстрируются механизмы религиозного синкретизма в Малой Азии.
