Archivists and historians of the Orenburg region. Experience of interaction

Abstract

The article considers the interaction of the archivists and historians of the Orenburg region, analyzes their joint work aimed at preserving the region’s historical heritage. It describes the formation of the Orenburg archival service, which, over its hundred-year history, has become the main conductor of state policy in the field of archival administration in the Orenburg region. Particular attention is paid to the forms of cooperation between historians and archivists. The interest of archivists in interacting not only with the professional historians, but also with the beginners, the students of the historical faculties of the regional center higher educational institutions, is emphasized. Such forms of work as conducting learning classes, student professional internships and practical training at the region’s archives, students’ participation in archival events make it possible to establish a dialogue between students-historians and archival staff. The productivity of scientific cooperation between the archivists and the historical community of the Orenburg region is evidenced by its various forms, such as the involvement of historians in the work of the Scientific Council of the United State Archives of the Orenburg Region, the creation of personal funds, joint scientific projects, publications, conferences. Special attention in the article is paid to the participation of the representatives of the professional community of historians in the work of the collegial and advisory bodies of the Committee for Archives of the Orenburg Region. The author comes to the conclusion that the interaction of the historians and archivists of the Orenburg region contributes to the popularization of the history of the region, promotes working with youth and benefits the development of the archives field.
