В статье анализируются документы из архива газеты «Таймс» в Лондоне, имеющие отношение к Джорджу Добсону, который был одним из первых корреспондентов этой газеты в Санкт-Петербурге. Добсон представлял «Таймс» в России во время правления трех императоров - Александра II, Александра III и Николая II, присутствовал на двух коронациях и двух имперских похоронах. Он упрочил должность постоянного корреспондента «Таймс» в Санкт-Петербурге. В качестве военного корреспондента принимал участие в русскотурецкой войне в Болгарии и стал первым англичанином, проделавшим путешествие от Узун-Ада до Бухары, Мерва и Самарканда по только что построенной российской железной дороге в 1888 г.

The article analyzes the documents from The Times Archive (Archive & Record Office Group Publishing Services) relating to George Dobson, who was one of the first correspondents of The Times in St. Petersburg. Dobson represented The Times in Russian in the reigns of three Emperors, Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicolas II and attended two coronations and two Imperial Funerals. He stabilized the position of a regular Times’ Correspondent at St. Petersburg. Dobson participated in the Russo-Turkish War in Bulgaria as a war correspondent and was the first Englishman who traveled by the new-built Russian railway from Oozon-Ada to Bukhara, Merv and Samarcand in 1888.
